CPCCBC4009 Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
This unit outlines the skills and knowledge required to ensure compliance with legal requirements in residential and commercial building projects. It covers meeting licensing obligations, adhering to financial and insurance regulations, and fulfilling the terms of building contracts.
It applies to National Construction Code (NCC) classifications:
- Residential: Class 1 and 10 buildings, up to two storeys
- Commercial: Class 2 to 9, Type C constructions
This unit is relevant for builders, site managers, forepersons, estimators, and other construction professionals responsible for ensuring legal compliance in building projects.
It is suited for individuals using specialised knowledge to handle routine and non-routine tasks, applying their judgment to manage predictable and sometimes unpredictable legal issues related to building projects.
Anyone engaged in construction work must complete the general construction induction training program as outlined by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work. Completing CPCCWHS1001 “Prepare to work safely in the construction industry” satisfies this requirement.

- Although not an entry requirement, a reminder that completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
